Prologue
Thor's Day Storm
The mast heaved with a wretched creek as the heavy wind strained agents the sail of the long boat. A bolt of lighting struck the raging sea several meters off the steer board's side, the clash of thunder resounded with a defining boom. Seconds later the air seemed to sisal as the static travailed through the mist filled air.
Magnus's exposed skin prickled as if his extremities had fallen asleep. His drenched cloths stuck to his body like a second skin, straining and stretching agents his movement. Gripping one of the ropes the attached the sail, Magnus made his way to the bow of the ship.
Magnus stood about five foot four inches tall, with a chiseled chest and strong, but slender limbs. His shoulder length dirty blond hair, socked by the rain, stuck to his face and neck. He whipped his hair away from his pale blue eyes and stared in to the depths of the thunder storm.
"Seems the great gods, Aegir and Thor are having an argument!" He shouted above the winds.
"The All Father will see us through!" Shouted a clocked man, His arms were wrapped around the mast. The wind had long blown back his hood, but bandages hid his face. But Magnus did notice the man's crimson eyes which seemed to shine with an inner light. It was the first time Magnus had heard the man speak, even when he had asked for passage back home. The man was a complete mystery to him. Magnus stared at the man, his socked clock stuck to his body like Magnus's cloths did, but he couldn't make out the mans shape. Though he did notice the mans long brown hair as it seemed a wild mess trying to escape the bandages, though once free look strait but it was hard to tell in the middle of the storm.
"The lad's right!" Shouted the captain from the steer board, "Now hoist the sail lest Thor rip it to sherds!"
Magnus and the passenger, with great effort closed the sail, the heavy rain striking them like small stones.
"We've been blown off course with out a doubt!" Shouted the Captain, "But I'll get to you stranger!"
"I thank you Captain and trust your word" Shouted the cloaked man.
"What about me!" Shouted Magnus, "I've got a wife waiting!"
"You'll get there in one piece," The Captain Shouted as he and Magnus switched places, "Your brother would have my head other wise!" He reached the bow of the ship, "That is if your wife left anything of my corpse left for him!" He let out a deep chordal of a laugh.
"As long as we reach land I'll be happy!" Yelled the clocked man, "Aegir and I have never gotten along!"
The captain made his way to the mast of the ship where the clocked man had anchored himself, "Lad!" He shouted over the resounding thunder, "You best try and get some rest," He pointed towards the back of the ship where the cargo, held in several wooden barrels was anchored under a rope net, "Tie yourself down there and try to get some sleep!"
The clocked man made his way to the back of the ship with some difficulty, and hunkered down between two of the barrels. He did as the captain had said and used some of the rope tied to the barrels to tie himself down. He pulled his hood back over his head and closed his eyes.
"Good luck sleeping in this storm!" Shouted Magnus, but his words were lost to the clocked man as exhaustion took hold.
